Terms of Service
Last updated: 5 July 2026
The service
Mike Was Right is a free app for saving and sharing recommendations with friends. It’s a passion project provided as-is: we’ll treat it (and your data) with care, but we can’t promise uninterrupted service, and features may change.
Your account
Keep your sign-in method secure and give accurate details. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service or other people on it.
Your content
Your recommendations, ratings, reviews, Top 10s and voice notes are yours. So the app can work, you grant us a non-exclusive, revocable licence to store your content and show it to the audiences you choose (yourself, friends you send things to, and — if your profile is public — anyone, per your Settings). Delete your content or account and that licence ends for it. You’re responsible for what you post: nothing unlawful, and when you credit a recommendation to someone by name, make sure they’d be comfortable with that.
Fair use
Don’t scrape the service, probe other people’s private data, impersonate anyone, or try to break the abuse limits. They exist to keep the project affordable and safe.
Third-party media data
Film, TV, game, music and book information (titles, artwork, details) comes from third-party databases — TMDB, IGDB, MusicBrainz / Cover Art Archive / ListenBrainz, and Open Library — and remains their content under their terms. Mike Was Right is not endorsed or certified by any of them. Credits are on the About page.
Leaving
You can stop using the app any time, and can permanently delete your account yourself in Settings — see the Privacy Policy for exactly what deletion covers (including the destruction of your voice recordings). Deletion is irreversible.
No warranties; limited liability
The service is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent the law allows, we’re not liable for indirect or consequential losses from using a free service — though nothing here limits liability that can’t lawfully be limited.
Governing law
To be settled on legal review. Until then: be reasonable, and talk to us first — hello@mikewasright.app.
Changes
If these terms change materially, the “last updated” date changes and continued use means acceptance. For a big change we’ll say so in the app.
